Hi Everybody...it's that time of year again!
Winter is (mostly) here, it's getting cold and will keep getting colder. This year, 2024, is the 12th year of the Annual Housing Hotline Painting Raffle, and the painting you see below is this year's raffle item. This painting is of puddingstone, my all time favorite rock formation, one I paint a LOT...like a LOT!
Housing Hotline has seen another increase in the number of folks seeking assistance this year. The small nonprofit organization will assist anyone in need, however there is a priority for the elderly, disabled and parents with children. Through the Housing Hotline, Jimmy and Barbara Winters support the most vulnerable population in Newport County, they are both volunteers since its inception in 1979!
ADDITIONALLY...Housing Hotline opened a COOLING and WARMING CENTER in 2024. A CRUCIAL need that was answered by the Housing Hotline Staff. Most who are unhoused have nowhere to be during the day, and extreme heat or cold makes the day time a fragile existence.
Cooling and Warming Center
open 9 AM to 4 pm, 5 days a week

Newport Housing Hotline's Mission is to help our community and its individuals and families in need reach a level of independence and self-sufficiency while also assisting them to ensure that they have fair, safe, and affordable housing by all means.
The Community Housing Resource Board (CHRB): Housing Hotline is a 501 (c)(3) agency that acts as a resource and referral service for low-moderate income individuals and families of Newport County and the entire state of Rhode Island. The Housing Hotline is the first of its kind in the country. It assists those experiencing housing difficulties, such as discrimination and homelessness, locating housing opportunities for displaced persons, and helping with tenant-landlord disputes.
